Install Build Perch
Short answer: Download the installer from buildperch.com and run it. On first launch, start a 14-day trial with no credit card, or activate a license key you already own.
How do I download and install it?
- Download the installer from buildperch.com. It’s a standard setup executable named
BuildPerch_<version>_x64-setup.exe; there’s no MSI or MSIX. Only download from the official site. - Run the installer and follow the setup wizard. Build Perch requires 64-bit Windows 11; see System requirements for the full spec.
- If WebView2 isn’t already on your machine (it ships with Windows 11), the installer downloads and installs it automatically.
- Launch Build Perch from the Start menu.
What happens the first time I launch it?
Build Perch opens a welcome screen with two choices:
- Start free 14-day trial: one click, no credit card, tied to this computer (reinstalling the app returns the same trial rather than resetting it). You get the full feature set for 14 days.
- I have a license key: paste a key from a purchase email to activate immediately. Activating uses one of the license’s 3 device slots.
Either path requires an internet connection to complete (to issue the trial or validate the key); after that, Build Perch runs offline for up to 30 days at a stretch. Starting a trial or activating means agreeing to Build Perch’s License Agreement and Privacy Policy, linked right on that screen.
When the trial (or a subscription) ends, Build Perch asks for a license the next time you launch it; nothing on disk is touched. Your workspaces, files, and chats stay exactly where you left them until you activate.
Good to know
- Installed size is about 420 MB; that includes the local speech-to-text and semantic-search models, so there are no extra downloads on first run.
- Windows 11 (64-bit) is the only supported platform.
- Build Perch never asks for an account, email, or personal details to install or trial it, only the license key once you have one.
