Galleries & saving media

Short answer: Every image, audio clip, video, and generated document plays or previews inline in the chat the moment it’s made, and also collects in a workspace-wide gallery you can browse, sort, and search later. Everything lands as an ordinary file in your workspace’s visible BuildPerch folder, so any other program can open it.

What are the galleries?

Media appears twice: first as an inline bubble in the chat that produced it (an image you can open in a lightbox, an audio or video player you can use right there), and second in a workspace-wide gallery: separate views for Images, Audio, Video, and Documents, switchable from the chat panel. Each gallery is split into two sections: From this chat (whatever the active conversation produced) and Others in BuildPerch/<kind>/ (everything else of that type in the workspace, including files another chat made or ones you dropped in yourself). Cards load lazily as you scroll, so a gallery with hundreds of files opens instantly.

Every card carries the same set of actions, from a right-click menu on both the inline chat bubble and the gallery card:

  • Preview: plays or opens the file in place.
  • Open with OS: launches your system’s default app for that file type.
  • Rename / Properties.
  • Save to folder: copies the file to any folder you pick on your PC, through a normal Windows folder picker. This is the way to get a file out of the workspace entirely.
  • Delete: sends the file to the Recycle Bin rather than deleting it permanently.

You can also drag a card within the app: onto the Files panel to copy it into your file tree at a specific location, into the chat message box to reuse it as an attachment, or onto a card in Lists to attach it there.

How do I use the galleries?

  1. Open a gallery with the view buttons at the top of the chat panel: click Images, Audio, Video, or Docs to see everything of that kind across the whole workspace, not just the current chat. The Chat button switches back to the conversation.
  2. Use the sort toggle (date / name) and the section headers to find what you need; recent chat output is separated from the rest of the folder.
  3. Click a card to preview it inline; right-click for the full action list.
  4. To keep a copy somewhere outside the workspace, right-click → Save to folder and pick a destination.
  5. To reuse a file elsewhere in the app, drag its card into the Files panel, into a chat’s message box, or onto a Lists card.

Good to know

  • Files land in per-kind subfolders of the workspace’s BuildPerch folder: images in BuildPerch/images/, speech and music in BuildPerch/audio/, video in BuildPerch/video/, and other generated documents in BuildPerch/documents/. These are ordinary folders: open them directly in File Explorer any time.
  • Select multiple cards (checkboxes, or shift-click for a range) to save or delete a batch in one pass instead of one at a time.
  • A gallery’s “Clean up” button sweeps orphaned entries for that category, useful after deleting a chat that generated a lot of media.
  • Deleting a file (from a chat bubble, a gallery card, or the file tree) sends it to the Recycle Bin. It isn’t gone until you empty that.
  • If a chat’s AI moved a generated file into a different folder (e.g. you asked it to file an image under a project folder), the gallery still finds and lists it at its real location rather than losing track of it.
