Undoing AI changes
Short answer: You can undo AI file edits at three levels: a single reply’s edits from the message itself, an entire agent or workflow run from its History card, and any AI-deleted file from the Windows Recycle Bin. This covers everything the AI does to your files; sends (email, Discord, Notion) go through a separate approval step instead, since a message can’t be unsent once it leaves your machine.
How do I undo something the AI just did in chat?
Right-click the assistant’s reply and choose Undo edits…. The dialog lists every file change that reply made: what it did (created, edited, deleted) and which file, with a checkbox per change, so you can revert all of them or just the ones you want. Once reverted, the message shows a small ”↩ N edits reverted” badge, and the AI is told in its next turn that the changes were undone, so it doesn’t act on a version of the file that no longer exists.
How do I undo a whole agent or workflow run?
Every agent or workflow run gets a card in the Workers panel’s History. A finished run that changed files shows Revert this run, which restores every file that run touched back to how it was before the run started, reusing the same dialog as the chat-level undo, with everything pre-checked. Delete this run removes the card from History without touching the files it changed or its saved log; it just gives up the ability to revert that run later.
What happens when the AI deletes a file?
It goes to the Windows Recycle Bin, not straight to disk. Both delete_file and folder deletion route through the OS recycle bin rather than a permanent remove, so an AI-deleted file is recoverable the same way any file you delete yourself is: through Windows’ normal Restore.
What if a file changed since the AI edited it?
Revert refuses to overwrite it silently. If a file was modified after the AI’s edit (by a later run, or by you editing it outside the app), reverting shows a warning (“File changed since this ran”) and asks you to confirm before discarding those newer changes. Reverting one edit can also touch later edits to the same file; the dialog flags that too, so you’re never surprised by what a revert actually rolled back.
Can I clear undo history?
Yes, from the Manage Workspaces window: clear one workspace’s undo history from its row menu, or every workspace’s at once from the footer. This is separate from deleting the files themselves; it only gives up the ability to revert past changes.
